Published instructions differ. Philips advises unplugging and cooling, then using a soft-to-medium brush on the heating element. Ninja likewise says not to immerse the main unit and to use a cleaning brush. Breville instructs users to wipe along quartz elements with a soft damp sponge or cloth and explicitly says not to use a cleaning agent on them.

Therefore, “suitable for an air fryer” does not mean every internal component may be sprayed. GE also advises avoiding cleaning material on coil-type heating elements. Appliance construction, coatings, sensors and electrical connections differ; the final boundary comes from the model manual together with the current cleaner label.

These instructions support the published use steps, but they do not establish universal permission to spray a heating element directly.

A safer sequence is: unplug, cool and remove detachable parts; clean those parts and the cavity as instructed; if the upper element permits only brushing or a damp cloth, do not apply cleaner; make sure no moisture remains before reassembly and use. Do not allow liquid into the fan, electrical connections or a non-immersible main unit.
