Direct answer

What should EPHYON OEM customers check before production when supplying their own bottles, labels and cartons?

Self-supply is possible. EPHYON's OEM services support customers providing bottles, labels, and outer boxes; before production, it is necessary to check their compatibility with the corresponding production line, and confirm the product specifications, target market, physical sample approval, final packaging documents, and materials. For products sold in the Chinese market, the actual Chinese product and producer information, as well as necessary usage or warning instructions, must also be verified. Bulk production begins only after both parties have confirmed.

Direct answer: Customers can provide their own bottles, labels, and outer boxes, but delivering the packaging materials to the factory does not mean they can be filled immediately. EPHYON OEM services will first check the compatibility of the bottles with the corresponding automated production line process, then confirm the product specifications, target market, approved physical samples, final packaging documents, materials, and production schedule. Only after these items are confirmed one by one will there be a clear reference for mass production.

The first step is to match the product with the packaging into a set. When communicating, bring along the product category, net content, expected quantity, target sales market, and delivery requirements, and also provide information on the intended bottles, caps, labels, and outer cartons. The bottle opening, container shape, label attachment, and packing method should all be verified with the specific production line and physical samples; a design that looks suitable on a screen does not necessarily mean it is suitable for production in reality.

The second step is to check the labels. China's Product Quality Law requires that product or packaging labels be truthful and indicate the Chinese product name, manufacturer name and address, as well as necessary specifications, ingredients, shelf life, or warning information according to the characteristics of the product. For detergents aimed at the Chinese market, the information organization can also refer to the current GB/T 36970-2018 "Instructions for Consumer Products: Detergent Labels." If the product is intended for sale in other markets, it should be re-verified according to the requirements of the destination, rather than directly applying a Chinese label to all regions.

The third step is to keep a tangible item for comparison. In the EPHYON OEM process, sample confirmation is done before mass production: both parties confirm and retain a sealed sample, then finalize the packaging documents and materials. In this way, packaging color, text, net content, and the physical feel of the product all have a common reference; incoming materials, key production processes, and finished product batches can also be inspected according to the quality plan applicable to the project. Pictures and videos can help communication, but the final standard should still be the physical items and documents confirmed by both parties.

If the product plan has not yet been finalized, the starting points for ODM and OEM work are different. EPHYON's ODM service can further discuss the formula, fragrance, viscosity, concentration, sample production, and packaging options; OEM projects with an existing mature product plan focus on production adaptation, filling, packaging, and delivery. Clearly distinguishing whether the issue to address is 'what product to develop' or 'how to stably produce an existing plan' can make packaging preparation more targeted.

The standard version should also be included in the project schedule. GB 26396-2026 "Safety Technical Specifications for Detergents" was issued in April 2026, but the implementation date is May 1, 2027; it is not yet a requirement that is currently in effect. How the new and old versions are connected should be checked in combination with specific categories, production, and market launch arrangements, and it is not advisable to judge that the project is ready solely based on a standard number on the packaging draft.

When preparing to consult with EPHYON OEM, bring product specifications and target market information, available bottles and label documents for verification, as well as samples and delivery times you wish to confirm. Packaging materials can be provided by the customer or a supporting solution can be discussed; the key is to ensure that the final label, physical sample, and production arrangements all point to the same product.
